Port Lincoln based Dokmar Services is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with Oceania Power & Solutions (OPS) for the appointment as South Australian distributor for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) marine engines.
Dokmar is a company dedicated to maritime engineering and was on the lookout for a heavy-duty engine range to endorse. It was not until a local fishing company enquired about re-powering their workboat that we really started to scour the market. We enquired with OPS about the Mitsubishi marine engines and discovered a line-up from 294-2984kw more than covering our local market.
OPS recognised the opportunity to work with Dokmar, and as there was no representation in the area for Mitsubishi marine engines, an agreement was reached bringing the knowledge of the two companies together. Dokmar will be responsible for promoting Mitsubishi marine engines, carrying a range of spare parts and consumables as well as supporting owners and operators with service and technical assistance.

We have a number of engines now in operation in fishing and work boats around Australia and the positive feedback from the owners and operators on reliability and fuel savings has been very powerful in helping us promote the Mitsubishi Marine Engine brand to new customers”.
The Mitsubishi range of commercial engines are solely manufactured in Japan by MHI and supported by their facilities in Perth and Brisbane, and a large facility in Singapore. Dokmar will have the necessary backing and access to information via the OPS relationship.
The Mitsubishi marine engine range is very strong in the Japanese, south-east Asian, European and North American markets and is regarded as one of the premier mechanically controlled engine packages available. There is a high premium placed on the Japanese heritage of the engine throughout the world and the current feedback from the Australian market indicates there will be continued strong demand.
Dokmar will offer Mitsubishi marine engines either separately or packaged with marine transmissions from another Japanese manufacturer, Hitachi-Nico. Alternatively, we can offer other recognised transmissions. We also have the capabilities to assist with or carry out the installation of engine packages along with lifting and rigging to manufacturing of engine mountings, engine alignment, and chocking.
At Dokmar, we recognise quality products and are thrilled to join the Mitsubishi team. The engines will be particularly well suited to fishing vessels, work boats and power generation applications and we will be actively pursuing the re-power and new build markets in SA.
Complementing the engine systems, Dokmar also offers mechanical and machining capabilities to support shafting and rudder systems, thrusters, winches and a comprehensive hydraulic testing and repair service.
